No.101 Shin-kiba (The timber circulation base)

"Shin-kiba" is the area to have admitted the place which was
a No. 14 landfill to Koto Ward in 1972 and it is the place where the service
of the timber circulation base is moving ahead instead of "the lumberyard".
The lumberyard made the timber place (the lumber storage) which was around
Nihonbashi and Kanda in the Edo period, being the area which exists in
the place to have been needed by the about 2-km northnorthwest move intensively
and is the beginning. After that, it undertook the demand of the timber
at the Tokyo harbor until recently. However, as for Koto Ward which included
the narrow-ization of the site by the increase of the demand of the timber
of having become an inland place with the development of the landfill and
moreover the neighborhood of the lumberyard, too, it moves a timber circulation
base from the viewpoint of the radical disaster prevention measure to Shin-kiba
because the ground is low and the wooden crowds and the present Shin-kiba
has been complete.
In Shinkiba station, when getting off, the fragrance of the wood has an
offensive smell. There are a showroom of the timber and so on, too, and
the one about the tree can obtain all ones. It is different from Odaiba
and the bloody Tokyo harbor can be appreciated in Shin-kiba. The Tokyo
heliport, the campsite and Wakasu which juxtaposes the only Metropolitan
area golf course, Yume-no-shima which could be reclaimed with the garbage
and so on exist nearby.
